There is a sweet surprise in store for Expo 2020 Dubai fans with Emirati-owned Mirzam creating hand-made artisanal chocolate bars especially for the next World Expo.
As one of Expo 2020’s first official licensees, the Al Quoz start-up is initially creating six flavours inspired by the UAE. They will collaborate with artists to hand-design the wrappers, reflecting Emirati culture.
The customised chocolate bars will carry the Expo 2020 brand and will be available for sale soon, through various Expo 2020 sales channels, including licensed traders across the UAE and at the 3,000sqm Superstore of the Future at the Expo site.
Expo 2020 will work with about 70 licensees to have on sale some 5,000 types of official licensed products, inspired by the Expo subthemes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.
Kathy Johnston, Chief Chocolate Officer at Mirzam, said it was a significant opportunity for a start-up that began in 2015 with two staff members.
“Working with Expo will help to solidify our reputation as a ‘Made in Dubai’ product that is made to an international quality standard.
“Our goal is for Mirzam to be valued at the same standard that you hold international brands, such as Emirates Airline and Expo 2020, and I’m proud that by working together Mirzam will be viewed at the same standard.”
