Already annually one of the most popular cities to visit in the world, now Dubai has been selected by Lonely Planet as one of the must-see destinations of 2020 – with Expo 2020 Dubai one of the chief reasons behind the accolade.
Global travel authority Lonely Planet bestowed the honour on the UAE’s largest city as part of its Best in Travel 2020 list, curated by the company’s editorial team and community of travel experts.
And it is no accident that it selected Dubai as an unmissable destination in the year of the first World Expo ever staged in the Arab region.
Expo 2020 is the latest in a proud lineage of the country’s iconic attractions and entertainment destinations, with outdoor and cultural offerings and ‘boundary-pushing marquee projects’ also cited as cementing Dubai’s place as a hugely popular destination for travellers.
The Museum of the Future and the world’s tallest observation wheel, Ain Dubai, were also among the forthcoming attractions mentioned by Lonely Planet, alongside existing iconic locations such as the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah.
Dubai’s broad appeal, offering travellers world-class options for a city break, romantic getaway, family holiday and cultural or gastronomic adventures all contributed to Lonely Planet’s verdict.
