Delegates from more than 190 countries, as well as commercial partners, government officials, members of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee and representatives from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), are convening virtually to show strong progress and commitment towards Expo 2020’s shared goals as preparations for the next World Expo gather pace.
From 24-27 August, they will gather for Expo 2020’s fifth International Participants Meeting (IPM) for updates on site operations, facilities management, Expo’s events and programming calendar, as well as content related to marketing, communications and media services.
Delegates will also hear from His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Cabinet Member and UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee; His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Cabinet Member and UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai; Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau; and His Excellency Dimitri Kerkentzes, Secretary General of the BIE.
Encouraging international cooperation to spur global progress, Expo 2020 is sharing details of its specialist programming, which will focus on facilitating action towards key issues such as climate change, health and wellness, inequality and environmental degradation.
Through themed weeks and international day events held throughout the event, Expo 2020’s partners, participants and visitors will explore critical global issues and commit to collective action to tackle them, helping shape a better future for all.
Expo 2020’s resilient response to the global health crisis has seen developments on site progress rapidly. With all Expo-led construction completed at the end of 2019, work this year has focused on landscaping the site and fitting out the Expo-owned buildings. The construction of Country Pavilions has also continued at pace, underscoring the commitment of participants to deliver an exceptional event that will help address some of the world’s biggest challenges.
