With an interior reminiscent of a modern private hospital and a fully-operational helipad on its doorstep, Expo 2020’s top-class Emergency Centre is not something you might expect on a construction site.
Demonstrating Expo 2020’s commitment to the welfare of tens of thousands of workers constructing the largest event ever to be held in the Arab world, the Emergency Centre focuses on the immediate care and stabilisation of patients in the event of it being required.
The centre is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is headed by Dr Victor Mikhaeel Butros. It has 13 beds, a variety of rooms covering consultation, treatment, isolation, assessment, resuscitation and recovery, as well as direct access to Expo’s on-site ambulances.
The Emergency Centre, which opened in November 2018, is currently taking part in a health promotion campaign for workers, organised by Expo 2020 and the DHA. The campaign focuses on worker nutrition, occupational health awareness and health screenings and runs until the end of September.
