Expo ramps up technology infrastructure

Cisco’s Intent-Based Network forms the backbone of Expo 2020’s technology infrastructure

Cisco has successfully completed the deployment of its advanced network across Expo’s three Thematic Districts – a major technology milestone that will allow visitors to connect securely, wirelessly and seamlessly from anywhere on the Expo site.

Cisco is Expo 2020 Dubai’s Official Digital Network Partner, and its industry renowned Intent-Based Network – which constantly learns, adapts and protects – forms the backbone of Expo’s network infrastructure and is a key building block of Expo’s digital experience.

Expo 2020 will also make use of Cisco Vision that allows full control over how digital content is showcased, enabling Expo 2020, as well as 192 participating countries, plus multilateral organisations, businesses and educational establishments, to deliver more compelling and interactive experiences for an expected 25 million visits.

Mohammed Alhashmi, Chief Technology Officer at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “We want to amaze millions of visitors with an incredible experience made possible by cutting-edge technology enabled by our partners, in particular the digital infrastructure being installed by our Digital Network Partner, Cisco.

“We’re delighted with the speed of progress as preparations continue ahead of the readiness and testing phase at the end of this year.”

Expo 2020, the world’s greatest show of human brilliance and achievement, is the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region and will run for six months from 20 October 2020.
