Following work-from-home directives from the UAE Government, employees across Expo 2020 Dubai have seamlessly shifted to remote working using technology solutions provided by Official Digital Network Partner Cisco.
Videoconferencing solutions have helped teams create memorable experiences and deliver a World Expo that will positively impact future generations.
At the heart of Expo’s communications is Cisco’s Webex platform, which enables features such as file-sharing, videoconferencing and messaging. Cisco’s teams have supported Expo by providing tutorials and on-ground technical support to ensure all employees can maximise the benefits that collaboration technology can provide.
Cisco also commissioned and tested a new remote-access VPN system, which was used to upscale VPN capacity from 300 to 8,000 concurrent connections. Within a week, the majority of users had already been migrated to the newly enhanced system.
Since the transition to remote working began, Webex has helped promote open channels of communication and facilitated real-time collaboration between Expo 2020 employees, enabling work on the six-month event to continue at pace.
Since 15 March, Webex has enabled more than one million minutes of virtual meetings between Expo 2020’s teams and their stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Cisco has also extended the use of its Webex solution to the friends and families of Expo 2020 employees, ensuring that even in difficult times, open channels of communication continue to flourish.
The swift deployment and ongoing support from Cisco has enabled Expo 2020 – which now has the largest deployment of Cisco Webex technology in the UAE – not only to manage day-to-day operations and keep its workforce connected, but also to set new standards for remote working in the region.
Due to COVID-19, Expo 2020 will now run from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. Bringing together the brightest minds and greatest ideas from around the globe, it will help to generate new and exciting solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
