    Expo 2020 to be “the best edition yet”, says HH Sheikh Mohammed

    HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai expresses his satisfaction after inspecting the site

    His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai predicted Dubai would stage the best World Expo yet after visiting the Expo 2020 site.

    Accompanied by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Dubai Crown Prince, HH Sheikh Mohammed toured the 4.38 sqkm site and discussed the latest progress of the World’s Greatest Show.

    Work is on track for the opening on 20 October 2020, where 192 countries and millions of visitors are expected to attend.

    HH Sheikh Mohammed was welcomed at the Expo site by Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General of Expo 2020 Dubai and senior officials at the project.

    “We are ready and remain true to our promise of hosting the best Expo edition yet in its 168-year history,” His Highness tweeted after the visit.

    His Highness was briefed on the latest developments of the Expo 2020 Volunteers and the Expo School Programme, which are engaging and inspiring people across all seven emirates, as well as the major events, shows and initiatives that will take place during the 173 days of Expo 2020.

    HH Sheikh Mohammed also gained a close-up view of architectural marvels including the UAE Pavilion, which resembles a falcon in flight and will tell the incredible story of the UAE and its people.

    He praised the efforts of all Expo 2020 employees, as well as the diverse team of volunteers and the 200-plus participants, including nations, multilateral organisations, businesses and educational institutions.

    HH Sheikh Mohammed said he was satisfied with the progress being made throughout the Expo site, which will welcome a projected 25 million visits, and his happiness with the commitment of Emirati youth as they contribute to the largest event ever staged in the Arab world.

    HE Reem Al Hashimy said: “Expo 2020 Dubai will be an important platform for countries to celebrate their National Day with the presence of senior officials from various countries and a large crowd of visitors from inside and outside the country.”
