Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee and City Readiness Committee convene

Preparations for the First World Expo in the Arab World are firmly on track, separate meetings held by Expo 2020 Dubai’s Higher Committee and City Readiness Committee have confirmed.

The Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee, led by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, convened to hear the latest updates in preparing to host an exceptional World Expo.

The high-level taskforce, entrusted with steering progress on the largest event ever held in the Arab World, reaffirmed its commitment to hosting an exceptional World Expo and that developments are on track.

During the meeting, the National Media Council presented progress of construction of the UAE Pavilion, while officials from Expo 2020 updated the Committee on the status of the three Thematic Pavilions (Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability), Dubai Exhibition Centre and the Expo Village that will house staff from international participants.

It also shared developments related to international participants and ticket prices.

HH Sheikh Ahmed also chaired Expo 2020’s fourth City Readiness Committee, which heard the latest updates on preparations to host the world’s greatest show in less than 400 days.

The City Readiness Committee is overseeing the coordination of dozens of local and federal entities, ensuring that Dubai and the UAE are ready to welcome millions of visitors to the next World Expo from 20 October 2020.

Several agencies presented updates on their readiness plans, including significant updates on major RTA projects, including new roads around Expo 2020 and the Dubai Metro extension.

The City Readiness Committee also heard from Dubai Civil Defense and discussed the preparedness of Dubai Health Authority and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, including event-time emergency plans.
